Genesis of Ann Arbor represents a special relationship between an Episcopal Church and a Reform Jewish Temple wherein both congregations maintain their separate ethnic identities to worship and be fruitful in the ways that are unique to both understandings of the nature of God. This relationship stands as a symbol of the power of reason and love to overcome distrust and the prejudices of our separate histories.
The facilities of Genesis are intended to serve the sacred as well as the special needs of each congregation. Implicit in the shared use is a recognition of responsibilities to serve the broader Ann Arbor community, making available its facilities for purposes consonant with the values and principles of Genesis. All users of the space are expected to recognize the special nature of the Genesis arrangement and to use the premises gently.
