Karen DeMarco co-founded this weekly Kirtan in 2001, which gathers every Sunday evening at Studio Be in Boulder. Kirtans are now led by Karen on harmonium and vocals, and includes Kali Martin on harmonium, and other friends. We call our unique style of chanting Bhakti Shakti Kirtan, evoking the Sacred Power of Devotion. Many people who come weekly look forward to this Spiritual practice using the ancient tools of Mantra, Sacred Sound, and the exquisite silences in between each chant. We blend introspective Devotion with Ecstatic energy, allowing the Kirtan to open one's Heart to the Presence of Beauty and True Identity within. Using poems, stories, chants and silence, Bhakti Shakti Kirtans support the realization of our True Nature as Love. We lead our wonderful community of Kirtan Chanters with simple Mantras and Sanskrit and Divine Name Chants that enable everyone to sing, breathe together and celebrate the aspects of Truth, through this one pointed focus.
